Our Company History:
COLRUD Corporation was founded by R. Glenn Shirley in February 1966. Glenn, an electrical engineer from Drexel University (Philadelphia, PA) was employed by Struthers Dunn Relays as a sales engineer prior to forming COLRUD. In 1989, Glenn transitioned the company to Bryan Shirley and Jeb Bartle. Today, we still maintain Glenn's directives of professional integrity, dedication to our customers and commitment to our principals.
L. D. Lowery, Inc. was started by Leiter Daniel (Doc) Lowery in 1938. At that time there was not a thriving electronics industry, but Doc had the foresight to see that there would be. Home and auto radio (tube types) were the leading state of the art technology. By himself, Doc covered the same territory then that we cover today, but now we have nine outside sales people. As the electronics industry emerged in this market, and particularly with the advent of TV in 1947, Doc added people to his staff. One was Bob Sylvester Sr. who became President of L. D. Lowery upon Doc's passing in 1958. Bob Sylvester then passed away in 1966 and Ernie Stuchell took over the management reigns. Ernie's untimely passing in 1974 moved Bill Sylvester to the Presidency of the company.
During its 62 years of existence, L. D. Lowery represented many fine lines in both passive electro-mechanical and active products. Many of these lines were leaders in their respective fields. This helped L. D. Lowery to become one of the largest and most respected Rep organizations in the territory. In April of 2000 the company was merged with COLRUD Corporation and now operates as COLRUD-LOWERY.
